No above-average fitness or athletic ability is required to train with us. After all, your physical skills must work while in the worst shape of your life, dehydrated with low blood sugar, sleep-deprived, wounded and/or pre-occupied – otherwise they have no real world self-defense value since you cannot control when you may face danger. However, most of our programs feature a fair amount of physical activity and some can be moderately to extremely taxing. We can make any program as much or little physically challenging as needed – based on the preferences of the participating group, with corresponding fitness benefits. In exercise physiology terms, the training naturally alternates between bursts of high-intensity cardio intervals, fat-burning sustained low-intensity cardio, boot camp-style dynamic resistance and isometric strain. This all amounts to a highly unorthodox workout using both slow and fast twitch fibers and building both functional strength and endurance.
